Seedling is now a Certified B Corporation

B Corp has been part of our day-to-day at Seedling for along time, as a standard many of the organisations we support use to assess and improve their impact on people and planet. That’s why we're especially pleased to share that Seedling is now joining an over 10,000 strong community as a newly certified B Corporation! Becoming a B Corp means we’ve met B Lab’s standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, and are committed to keep improving over time.
Below, we’ll share what sits behind the certification: what B Corp is really assessing, why it mattered to us to do it, and what it changes (and doesn’t change) about how Seedling operates.
What being a B Corp means
A Certified B Corporation is a company that’s been assessed against high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
- It’s independently assessed: not self-declared.
- It’s backed by legal accountability: we’ve updated our articles of association so we’re bound to consider the impact of our decisions on employees, customers, suppliers, communities and the environment.
- It’s not a one-off: B Corps are required to recertify every three years – showing evidence of continuous improvement.
That last point is important - B Corp isn’t a box you tick once and move on from, it’s a commitment to keep improving, with a requirement to prove it.
Why we chose to certify
Seedling exists to help businesses improve their impact on the planet. But for us, real impact doesn’t stop with the environment – it also includes how a company treats people, how it behaves, and the outcomes it creates for society.
That’s why we chose to certify as a B Corp. We wanted an independent, rigorous way to hold ourselves accountable – not only for what we do externally through our work, but for how we run Seedling day-to-day. That means how we treat our team, how we partner with clients, how we make decisions, and how we contribute to our community.
B Corp gives us a holistic framework to keep this broader definition of impact front of mind as we grow. It helps ensure that scaling Seedling doesn’t dilute our values – it strengthens them. So as we expand our reach and ambition, we keep raising the bar on how we operate, measuring progress, staying transparent, and continually improving.
Joining a community we already know (and love)
One of the nicest parts of this milestone is that it doesn’t feel like we’re stepping into a new arena - we’re officially joining a community we’ve been supporting for years.
B Corp has been a real, day-to-day use case for Seedling for a long time, as we help teams track and reduce their carbon footprint as part of B Lab’s Impact Assessment. We’re excited to be held to the same standard as the companies we’ve worked with for years.
What this means for how we run Seedling
Some things stay the same. We’ll keep making carbon measurement and reduction planning feel straightforward – and we’ll keep helping teams communicate progress in a way that’s accurate, credible, and decision-useful. If anything, becoming a B Corp reinforces our commitment to the planet.
What changes is the structure around how we build Seedling. B Corp turns our values into formal commitments – so they don’t rely on good intentions or individual people, and they don’t get diluted as we grow. It also reflects a broader view of impact –not only what we help clients achieve for the planet, but how we operate as a business day-to-day.
It strengthens the guardrails in three practical ways:
· A stakeholder-led approach, by design – we’re accountable to more than shareholders alone, including our team, clients, and community
· More transparency, backed by evidence – we measure and share our impact beyond client work, including our wider social and governance impact
· Ongoing accountability – recertification creates a built-in cadence to review, improve, and raise the bar as we grow
What happens next
B Corp certification isn’t a one-off milestone you tick off and move on from. The real value is the framework – it formalises the way we already try to run Seedling, and gives us a clear structure for improving as we grow.
We set up Seedling to help businesses do better by the planet, but we’ve always wanted to build the company in a way we’d be proud of too. B Corp gives us a practical structure to keep ourselves honest – to keep what’s working, to spot what isn’t, and to keep improving in a way that’s transparent.
We’ve learned a lot from the B Corp community and the impact-led teams we work with – people who care about doing this properly, even when it’s not the easiest route. We’re excited to keep learning alongside them, sharing what we find, and raising the bar as we grow.
