Decarbonisation tailored to the consulting industry.
What consultancies say about us

The carbon impact of consulting
Consultancies are increasingly under pressure to act on their carbon emissions, whether to meet public sector procurement criteria, comply with CSRD in Europe or SECR in the UK, or to attract and retain top talent.
When compared to product-based businesses, the carbon footprint of consulting can seem less tangible and emissions reduction opportunities more challenging to identify. Rigorous emissions data is essential to identifying hotspots and building a credible Net Zero strategy.

FAQs
Your questions answered.
What emissions should a consulting or advisory firm measure?
Most emissions for consulting firms fall under Scope 2 (office electricity) and Scope 3, including business travel, remote working, software subscriptions, and purchased professional services. These often account for over 90% of a service-based firm’s carbon footprint.
How do we measure emissions when most of our team works remotely or travels frequently?
Seedling allows you to easily track emissions from home working, commuting, and travel using activity-based data for greater accuracy. You can also invite team members to enter key data securely, making distributed reporting simple and scalable.
Is carbon reporting relevant if we’re not required to do it yet?
Yes, many clients now expect ESG transparency from their service providers, especially in regulated sectors. Tracking your emissions also supports B Corp assessments, strengthens procurement bids (e.g. under PPN 06/21), and helps you lead by example when advising others on sustainability.
