Your questions answered

How does the Xero integration work?

You connect your Xero account to Seedling, and your financial data imports into the platform automatically. Seedling's AI then categorises that spend and maps it to the right emission categories, giving you a spend-based footprint without manual data entry. Your adviser reviews anything ambiguous before your figures are confirmed.

Do I need to categorise my transactions myself?

No. The AI categorises your spend using the account information already set up in your Xero, so the sorting is handled for you. You can adjust any categorisation you're not sure about, and your Seedling adviser is on hand to check anything unclear rather than leaving it to guesswork.

Is a spend-based footprint accurate enough?

Spend-based calculations are a well-established way to build a complete footprint, and a perfectly good starting point. They estimate emissions from what you spent, using industry-average emission factors. To get more precise, you then bring in activity data, the actual energy used, miles driven, or materials bought, in the categories that matter most. Seedling supports both and helps you move between them as your data improves.

What if I don't use Xero?

You can still bring your data in automatically. Alongside Xero, Seedling integrates with QuickBooks and Sage, so most businesses can connect their accounting software directly. If you'd rather not, you can enter data manually or import it from a spreadsheet, with your adviser on hand throughout.
