Overview

Tyler Grange had been voluntarily reporting their emissions since 2021. By the time they came to Seedling, they had four years of data, a business that had doubled in size, and a pressing need to turn that solid basis into a credible, science-based plan for reaching net zero. The Objective

With B Corp's updated standards placing climate action as a foundation requirement, Tyler Grange needed to move from consistent measurement to a properly structured, science-based reduction plan.

"As a Certified B Corp, we are legally required to consider our impact on people and the planet and, under the new standards, it isn't optional anymore to simply measure, set goals and reduce greenhouse gas emissions - climate action is one of the foundation requirements."

The goal was a net zero pathway that reflected what they'd always planned to do - but now needed to work in practice. With a growing workforce, near double the amount of offices, and therefore rising emissions, they needed a more credible route to getting there, the transparency to share it publicly, and the support to implement it and stand behind their claims.

The Challenge

"Our biggest challenge was how to set science-based targets that would provide the biggest wins and that this would be achievable for us to implement as a service-only provider."

Tyler Grange had been doing the right things for years, but for them, the problem was the process. With over 100 consultants spread across eight offices, gathering the granular data needed for an accurate footprint was a significant undertaking every year.

"It was far too time consuming to gather the data internally, chasing over 100 busy consultants for their inputs and entering granular detail manually for separate offices."

Automation and integrated tools were missing. Homeworking emissions, for instance, had become an unexpectedly time-consuming process - manually tracking each employee's energy provider, inputting separate fuel ratio mixes, calculating individual scenarios across working-time equivalents, and using best practice calculations when data wasn't available.

Rather than starting from scratch, Seedling migrated Tyler Grange's historical emissions data onto the platform - preserving continuity while bringing consistency and rigour to the methodology.
